Urband legend dari Wisconsin.
Ada seorang gadis yang selalu mengenakan pita kuning di lehernya, tak peduli siang ataupun malam, cocok ataupun tidak dengan pakaiannya. Ia memiliki teman sejak kecil, John. John tak pernah melihat gadis ini tanpa pita kuning di lehernya.
Berkali-kali John bertanya, berkali-kali pula gadis ini menolak memberitahunya. Waktu berlalu, John akhirnya melamar si gadis dan menikahinya. Di hari pernikahan, John kembali bertanya pada istrinya yang cantik jelita tentang pita kuning di lehernya. Sang istri dengan berlinang air mata menjawab.
"Kita sudah berbahagia selama ini, apakah ada bedanya..?"
John berhenti bertanya sejak saat itu. Mereka berkeluarga dengan bahagia dan punya dua anak. Di hari ulang tahun emas pernikahan, John kembali bertanya tentang pita kuning di leher istrinya. Sang istri menjawab, "Engkau sudah bersabar selama ini. Bersabarlah sebentar lagi."
John mengiyakan.
Akhirnya, suatu ketika sang istri jatuh sakit. John, melihat hidup istrinya sudah tidak lama lagi, menanyakan kepada istrinya tentang pita kuning itu. Sang istri tersenyum dan berkata, "Baiklah John, kau boleh melepas pita itu sekarang."
Dengan hati berdebar, perlahan-lahan, John melepas pita kuning di leher istrinya.
Dan bersamaan dengan jatuhnya pita kuning itu ke lantai, kepala sang istri pun ikut menggelinding jatuh.
